Social inclusion, access to education and prevention of violence
The Foundation works in three main areas: prevention of violence, the fight against social exclusion and fostering access to education through its own programs and methodologies. In all our programs we work on gender equality, healthy habits and education in values.
HOW WE DO IT
This is how we carry out our strategic lines of action
- We intervene directly with our programs and applying our specific methodologies.
- We join forces with other organizations and entities that share similar goals.
- We seek to raise awareness of the issues we work on and generate knowledge and innovation.
- We raise awareness of the Foundation's position and seek to influence in order to bring about change.
WHY WE DO IT
A commitment to helping to make the world a better place
The phenomena of violence and social exclusion among children are persisting all over the world and make the work of the Barça Foundation and its methodology using sport ever-more necessary.
To prevent violence
BULLYING. 30% of children are bullied at school. One in nine people suffers from it in youth football (Barça Foundation).
YOUTH VIOLENCE. Every year, more than 200,000 homicides occur in the world among young people aged 10 to 29 (WHO).
More than 1 billion children around the world suffer some form of sexual, physical or psychological violence (WHO).
For social inclusion
REFUGEES AND MIGRANTS. There are more than 70 million refugees and displaced people in the world, 50% of whom are children (UNHCR).
SICK CHILDREN. In Catalonia there are about 2,000 children with chronic or complex diseases (Catalan Society of Paediatrics).
AGAINST SOCIAL EXCLUSION. 1 billion children in the world live at risk of social exclusion (UNICEF). In Catalonia, 1 out of 4 children are at risk of social exclusion (AROPE-UNICEF rate).
FUNCTIONAL DIVERSITY. More than 1 billion people have some form of disability, this figure represents 15% of the world's population (WHO).
For access to education
SCHOOLING. There are more than 260 million out-of-school children in the world and more than 25 million children that drop out of school prematurely (UNESCO).
The Barça Foundation is committed to education as a fundamental part of children's development and is therefore running a number of programs in this field.
