Lethokuhle Society Uplifters is a non-profit organisation that is based at Imbali Township, Pietermaritzburg. Our organisation was founded in June 2018 and received our official certificate in September 2018. The organisation was founded by a group six unemployed individuals namely Fortune Bhengu, Eugene Zuma, Buyisile Dlamini, Phumla Mbambo, Ayanda Ngcobo, Amahle Ntuli. These individuals thought that they can uplift the community and help fight crime, teenage pregnancy, poverty and drug abuse through sports and skills development.
- Our Organisation is currently facing a number of challenges like:
- Lack of funding.
- Lack of proper infrastructure.
- To get relevant information from the designated departments.
We are slowly making some improvements in tennis because we have tried to buy some equipment for some of the schools which are four primary schools and four high schools that we facilitate in. It is hard to operate in the community as there is no infrastructure and we have been trying to get help from different organisation but there is no luck.
High crime rate, high unemployment, high rate of HIV & AIDs, high rate of poverty and lack of skills are some of the things that are dominating our community, so as an organisation we are looking to fighting and succeed against these challenges, empower people leaving in the rural areas and empower local women Tennis.
In order for us to overcome these challenges that we are currently facing we need any kind of help, it could be financial or anything that can help us assist our players.
Since we are facing this Covid-19 pandemic as a nation we take the list of our development players and submitted it to different organisations hoping that they can maybe be assisted with food parcels or anything to help them fight hunger since the is lockdown and have no fading skims at schools. We are taking help from any department and we would be happy to know that our players have something to eat during the lockdown.
